Our History
The Story of J. Nogueira: Four Generations of Dedication to Agriculture
The story of J. Nogueira Agronegócios began with coffee, in 1912, and has since been marked by over 100 years of commitment to the development of Brazilian agribusiness. Four generations later, we remain true to the same values that made us a reference in the sector: quality, honesty, and dedication to the farmer.
Coffee: Where It All Began
Our journey started with the production, storage, trade, and export of green coffee, becoming a reference in the coffee sector during our early decades of activity. In 1989, we took a major step forward by opening our own roasting facility, adding value to our production and serving new markets with high-quality coffee. This solid foundation in coffee shaped the essence of our company: a tradition rooted in the ability to innovate and evolve.
Seed Potatoes: Leadership, Quality, and Trust
In 1981, we diversified our operations by beginning the import of seed potatoes. Since then, we have imported seeds from countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, Scotland, France, Argentina, Chile, the United States, and others — always with a focus on quality, phytosanitary control, logistical efficiency, traceability, transparency, technical support, and close monitoring throughout every step of the process. Always by the farmer’s side.
Years later, we expanded into our own seed production, consolidating our expertise in this segment and strengthening our market presence.
Over the years, we have earned a leading position in the Brazilian seed potato market, as the country’s largest seed potato importer, according to official foreign trade data. This recognition fills us with pride and reaffirms our confidence in the values that have always guided our story.
In 2001, we inaugurated our first cold storage facility for seed potatoes, ensuring proper quality and preservation while meeting the growing demands of the market. Since then, we have continuously expanded our storage capacity and modernized our monitoring systems to guarantee optimal conservation conditions.
Starting in 2023, we became the official representatives of Solana in Brazil — one of the world’s leading potato genetics companies — another step forward in our pursuit of innovation and excellence.
We also work in close partnership with the country's leading food processing industries, strengthening the connection between genetics, field, and processing.
Diversification with Sustainabilit
In addition to coffee and seed potatoes, we are also active in other strategic agribusiness sectors. We operate in the grain market, focusing on soybeans, corn, and sorghum, and we contribute to the sugar-energy sector through sugarcane production — always with responsibility and a commitment to sustainability.
A Legacy of Four Generation
Today, under the leadership of the fourth generation of the Nogueira family, the company continues to uphold the same entrepreneurial spirit that marked its foundation in 1912. With a forward-looking vision aligned with present-day demands, J. Nogueira continues to innovate and contribute to the strengthening of Brazilian agribusiness, always preserving the values that made it a benchmark in the sector.
The story of J. Nogueira is an inspiring example of how tradition and modernity can go hand in hand, shaping a legacy that transforms and uplifts the agricultural sector.
